sony xperia z low call volume

hi,

I just bought xperia z. But I am really disappointed about this phone's earphone low volume while call. Then I tested system settings for earphone, the test sound was very clear and pure. But I have problems about hearing call sound. Call sound looks like robotic sounds and comes really low. Please help me,  how can I fix this problem. Is this problem belongs software or hardware.  What can i about this annoying matter?

I just did a factory reset, good thing I didn't have much on my phone and well it worked after that, now the volume of the call is way too strong haha

i have same problem too and i just got another replacement today...but i think the problem is the design is low...only good with headphones

the phone is water resistance...so dont worry about wet or some cos it is design to even swim with it in the swimming pool and take pics....so that is not the problem and i just got a replacement for same issue but it is still same thing go on after

hello I am glad that I have found this forum. I have the same problem with my xperia z which I received 2days ago as a swap from my 1st Xperia Z due to the same problem... when during a call and it is ringing another number , the sound on the earphone is distorted, I have also played about with the settings on call settings and sound settings, with these settings changed I thought I had solved the problem, but then a while later I decided to test the sound and I still had the same problem.... i was then thinking it must be a hardware failure I am guessing it is a hardware failure. I called up sony about the problem before, they said it could be Something to do with the sim. they said to change out a sim with another sim and try it out, but I still had the same problem... any ideas?? This is my second Xperia z with this problem.... And I waited from the 1st Xperia z
3 months for a swap phone.... I am very disappointed with Sony I'm normally a fond guy when it comes down to Sony tech... and even when I received 2nd phone, it had a dent on the bottom of it!!! Come on Sony lets see some customer goodwill....

The sound quality is very low on the Sony Xperia because of the waterproofing. They built a small internal speaker and layered it in a fine plastic to waterproof the speaker opening. Unfortunately adjusting any setting will not benefit the sound.

I did find this audio booster and it did help.

Hi,

I had sudden drop of callvolume too.

**SOLUTION**

I did something similar as Gizmoguru. I cleaned the earspeaker with soap and water and than with compressed air and it boosted the volume back to normal levels.

Blocked earspeakerfilter seems to be the problem.

Hi, I had the problem of volume droping whilst on a call, My freind told me to try raising the volume whilst on a call. It worked fine all back to normal now.
