You can scratch anything but glossy painted plastic must be the least hardwearing material out there. Mine is in the official SONY flip case but has marks on the sides. I'm OCD with my phones, they have screen protectors front & back plus a case and yet none of my old iPhones have a single mark on them. Nobody uses plastic in flagship phones these days, not for a good couple of years.

Well they do, but when Sony was rocking aluminium and Samsung, LG, Google, and most others were using plastic, it was seen as a gimmick with little point and waste.
It was also noted how easily aluminium scratched

@viridis

Please IF it's possible for SONY, tell SONY to make Carbon fiber frame + Alkaleido body

I've been requesting/suggesting that ever since 2011 #CarbonFiberXperia #XperiaCarbonFiberUliwooly

I was gonna tag you into this but wasn't sure how public you wanted your carbon fibre love to be @uliwooly

Here we can observe how easy XZ gets scratches:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snnuvwZGMWM&index=15&t=245s&list=PLunc99vB4ExZOfUxeCwwo77lzjNr8HaWP

If we compare with Z5 Premium (glass and metal, not plastic and aluminium) here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVPa8sNY1Xw

We may conclude the XZ is much more scratch prone than Z5.

The improvements in camera lens (XZ glass, Z5 plastic) and screen (XZ gorilla glass) are not enough to compensate all other materials.

There are several missing Z features or features changed for worst in XZ.

We should be discovering new functionalities and improvements, not counting missing Z features. In several aspects, we are moving back to models before Xperia Z. Other brands are moving forward copying Sony features like waterproof and good cameras.

Unfortunately, for sound and vision fans it’s now easier to move to other brands.

Absolutely correct.

If someone was to start rubbing a sharp pair of scissors over their phones, it will scratch.

In other news.

The sun is hot.

However, scratched metal looks way less nasty than scratched glossy painted plastic.
