Contacts gone

My daughter has successfully managed to clear all of my contacts. I have tried importing them but I get a message about there being no vcard. Please help. This is above my head.

Hi @HC33,

I am sorry to hear about your contacts being cleared.

Do you know how the contacts were stored in your phone? If they were only saved locally or if you have synchronized them with a Google account or any other cloud account?

If they were stored locally only and don't have a previously saved vcard file or you have created a backup I'm afraid there is no option to get them restored.

If all your contacts were saved to an email account you should be able to synchronized them again with the phone if your daughter turned this option off.

Open up the contacts application > 3 dots > Settings > Accounts & sync > tap on the account and make sure that the contacts sync is turned on.

You can also check so the contacts are not filtered to not be shown, start the contacts application again > 3 dots > Filter > in the bottom of this menu you will see "Display contacts" tap on each the accounts and you will see small checkboxes to the right, make sure that all of these are marked, otherwise the contacts will not be shown in the Contacts application.

You can also make sure that "Online contacts" and "Contacts with a phone number" aren't marked in the checkbox.

If you still can't find them and you don't have a backup made from before that you can restore I'm afraid that you will need to add them again in your phone. I would recommend that you choose your Google account this time around.
