There is a cracking/popping noise in the left side of the headset, this gets worse when shake the headset around by moving my neck or walking etc. This continues even when the headset is off. And there wasn't any physical force applied to the headset. Anyone having similar problems?
The NC is an active circuit which would -ironically- create noise if there's nothing/little to cancel.
Sony support reps actually recommend turning off NC completely if you're not in a noisy environment.
Some people have recommended giving the headphones a healthy smack, and while I don't know if I would do and/or recommend that myself, it's worth highlighting that they've also confirmed it fixed it somehow.
Hope this helps!

Hey all,
I also do get some really loud popping noise from time to time on my right side.
It is really loud and my ear kinda "hurts" after it's happened. I couldn't find out if it's only when NC is on, because it happens so randomly.
Any new insights besides smacking the headphones?
thanks
I own a pair of WH1000XM3, for 2 years now. I just had this problem today and I tried many methods I found on the Internet and non of them worked. However, I decided to make an insane 3 Million IQ play. Connect your headphones to your phone and then re-optimize the personal optimizing for noise canceling. Ladies and gentlemen, you may thank me later.
