Missing album covers on new Sony A15 Walkman

I am using a mac so can't use MediaGo. Any ideas for a easy solution to this problem. Thanks

Hi, I clarified some of the instructions to fix this issue given by users below.

1
Introduction

Neither the Sony Walkman NWZ-A15 nor the NWZ-A17 will display album cover art from a progressive JPG. Unfortunately this is the prevalent/default format for cover art available on Discogs.

To convert your existing cover art to a format that the above Walkman firmware can read and display, follow the steps below.

2
Applications needed
a. Irfanview with the Irfanview Thumbnails plugin
b. MP3Tag

3
File preparation

A. If all files have an embedded cover picture, go to step 4. You can confirm that cover art is embedded in a music file by playing the file in VLC player and checking what the player displays as art for that file.

B. If some or none of the files in the album have embedded cover art, but the art already exists in the album folder as, eg "[album name].jpg", go to step 5.

4
Optimising cover art that already tags individual album tracks

Open MP3Tag.
Select Change directory... from the File menu.
Select the correct folder path for your music library folder.
Invoke a batch Extract cover art as an Action (see MP3Tag for further guidance.) This will create an image "cover.jpg" in every album folder by copying one of the embedded JPG files.

5
Optimising cover art that was saved as a JPG in the album folder

You can batch-convert all JPGs of cover art from progressive JPG to a format readable by the above Sony Walkmans with Irfanview Thumbnails plugin. The conversion leaves file size and resolution intact.

Open the Thumbnails plugin from the Irfanview File menu.
Click to select your music library folder in the left pane file tree.
Right-click to select the Load thumbs from allsubfolders option from the context menu.
View the files in the right pane as icons, and Sort by type to collect every album jpg file in your library from the library's subfolders.
Select all of the cover art JPG files.
Right-click to open the context menu.
Select JPG Lossless Operations > Lossless rotation with selected files... .
Check that the Transformation: None radio button is on by default.
Check that the Optimize option is selected by default.
Check that the Progressive option is NOT selected.
Click OK to convert the JPG files to an 'optimised' state. The jpg headers of these files are updated without otherwise altering the file content.

Batch-embedding optimised cover art in music files

Open MP3Tag.
Select Change directory... from the File menu.
Select the correct folder path for your music library folder.
Select a subfolder of an album where the Walkman doesn't see cover art.
Select all the music files in the right pane.
Invoke the Add cover... Action by right-clicking on the disc icon at lower-left or commanding [ctrl]+[alt]+[a].
Select the appropriate cover art "[album name].jpg" for the album.
Save the "[album name].jpg" back into the music files by selecting Save from the File menu or clicking the Save icon.
Repeat Step 6 for each album that you optimised in earlier Steps.

7

Re-upload or overwrite the optimised albums to the Walkman.
