flickering lcd screen,

Hi there

I was using my laptop today when i suddenly got really bad screen flicker, change in color and just basically a mess. I have a vgn-cizb model, the screen is a 13.3" wxga x black lcd one. I hooked up the laptop to an external monitor and it displayed fine so i am assuming the issue is the lcd screen itself or a connector within the laptop? Does anyone know what could be causing the problem and also is it something that can be repaired? Would i need to go via sony and would it be expensive?
Can i use the laptop with an external monitor until it gets fixed or would that cause any futher issues?

A few questions i know but i do hope someone can help me.
Many thanks.

Hi mtstifycat

welcome to Club VAIO..

As the screen problems does not appear on your external monitor then cause is more likely a cabling problem or a more expensive replacement screen..

Unfortunately if it's the screen that needs replacing it would possibly be more than your Vaio is worth.. :slight_frown:

I suggest you either contact see if a local repairer in your area can give you an quote for repair, then depending on the cost decide whether you can live with connecting your vaio to an external monitor.

Or

Contact Sony Vaio support, you can do this either by phone or via e-Support, to find contact details for Sony Vaio support..

Open Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support

Under Log-in option 2: Select your VAIO model, next to Select Model Category - Select your model from the drop down list, in your case VGN C.

Then next to Select Model - select VGN C1ZB

Then click Log-In

Once logged select Get In Touch
