Sony Xperia Play - Back Camera producing 'Black and whilte' images only!

Hi all,

I have a Sony Xperia Play R800i.

Android Version 2.3.3

The phone is not rooted, the only tweak that I have performed is to set the SD card as the default storage for applications.

Last night I tried to take a photo using the default 'camera' application though I noticed that the back camera could only take 'Black and White' images.

The funny thing is that the front camera is working and displaying colour.

I am not certain as to the cause of this, though does anyone know of a way to set the back camera back to colour?

Thank you.

Hi uliwooly-wooly,

Thank you.

I cleared the application data of the camera, and this did fix the problem.

I would love to upgrade to Android 2.3.4, though I have read that the update to Australia will be released in October - I think I will wait until then to update this.

I have heard that the update will improve the quality of the camera to a high definition quality so I'm quite keen to see whether these rumours are true.

it is, in fact true, it will improve the camera among other things, the update will be out starting October, but who knows if they'll release it soon after in Australia, if you run out of patience you can always flash Dizzy_Face
