New to Android. Need answers to few queries please.

Dear All,

I'm a new user to the forum.  Bought this cute little device - Xperia Mini Pro on 26th August.

This is my first Android phone.  In addition, I also have Nokia E72.

There're a few queries to which I don't get answers anywhere.

1) Where's the File Manager application located?  How do I browse through various files and folders?

2) When I press and hold the "Home" key, I'm getting a list of "recent applications".  Are these "running" apps only or apps that are both "running now" and "closed" recently?

3) If I press "Back" key, that does amount to "closing" of the app or the application still resides in the RAM?

4) When I see the list of services that are running, I'm getting two views (like a tab).  One tab shows the amount of memory that's used.  This view gives the amount of memory that's used by an app and the time since the app is open.  The other view provides me the amount of memory that is "Free".  But this view still has the apps listed and says "cached".  How can it be free when there're still apps marked as "cached"?  I'm confused with this.

5) Is there any way by which I can see the battery status percentage without digging through menus? (there's a status switch widget, but it is very big, with no room in my default desktop).  I'm asking if there's a widget that shows just the battery percentage.

Request you to provide answers to the above queries.

Thanks in advance!!

Vasan

  1. theres no pre installed file manager u have to download it from the android market..check this outhttps://market.android.com/details?id=xcxin.filexpert&feature=search_result
  2. that shows the list of currently used apps..NOTE: they may still be runing or may have been closed. there are some applications which cant be closed..if u do they will start again.
  3. as i said some applications get closed by doin this..for example any game..but if u press the back button in music..music still keeps on runing..
  4. cache is like data collected by the apps..they are not needed..download this app
  5. apps2sd https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&feature=search_result this will help u to have the maximum space in your internal memory..and will help u to clear the cache Slightly_smiling_Face
  6. there are many apps in the android market https://market.android.com/search?q=battery+indiacator&so=1&c=apps download the one which u think is the best..i use status widget so have not tried any of them..but m sure it'll show accurate results Slightly_smiling_Face
