My Mini Pro doesn't gain back the GPRS access after signal is lost and regained

My Mini Pro doesn't gain back the GPRS access after signal is lost and regained. I need to restart my mobile to get the GPRS  back, I have tried switching on/off airplane mode, using APN on/off restore, etc. Nothing works unless i restart my mobile,,,, Is there a fix or workaround.. the signal in my area goes on and off

Hi, goto Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Network Mode, what is selected?

Hi, "GSM only" is selected as my plan does support only 2G

I also tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and changing it to GSM auto (PRL) , but still things didnt change

Oh .... not sure is it due to your Network Operator's coverage? Could be due to weak signal. What if you try setting it to GSM/WCDMA preferred? see if it is better?

I understand that the loss of signal issue is with my operator, but why isn't the device able to reclaim the GPRS once the signal is back ?? that should be an issue with the device/ with the android!!

I can see this reported in several android forms for certain handsets.. will be of great help if some one could give me a work around, apart from restarting the phone!!

Can you try to perform a software/firmwware repair using PC Companion. Just a suggestion that's all.
Connect your phone to the PC via the USB cable
The repair option on PC Companion (Support Zone --> Update --> Repair).

Please back up your phone data and settings before proceeding.

I know you mentioned that you want a remedy without restarting the phone. The software/firmware repair involves the restart of your phone.
