Cannot connect my Arc to my PC

Cannot connect my Arc to my PC

Tried using a USB connector and PC Companion, shows "No Phone Connected," I use the "How to Connect" link and see: "PC Companion was Unable to Connect to the Phone..."

Not convenient. Anyone know if this can be solved? I only want to transfer some tunes to my phone via USB, is that asking too much?

select MSC and then try a new usb port on your computer, once you connect your phone to your PC wait few seconds -> drag the notification bar -> connect/mount phone

go to

settings -> sony ericsson -> connectivity -> make sure to uncheck install pc companion and uncheck auto connect in MSC, usb connection mode -> Mass storage mode (MSC)

Thanks, so i uncheck "Install PC Companion" in settings -> sony ericsson -> connectivity -> --done.

The second part i don't understand, what else do I uncheck and where is it?

in the same connectivity screen

uncheck auto connect in MSC

In settings -> sony ericsson -> connectivity -> I see the following:

1) Install PC Companion

2) USB Connectivity Mode

3) Tethering & portable hotspot

"Trusted devices for wireless media transfer"

No trusted hosts

(#2) USB Connectivity Mode --> gives me two choices, toggling between MTP or MSC

I What should I do?

That's odd ok lets try this

tap on USB connection mode -> selec MSC and see if you get

uncheck auto connect in MSC

When i tap on USB connection mode -> and select MSC then press "OK" I return to the "Connectivity settings" screen and under "USB Connection mode" I see "Selected: Mass storage mode"

When i tap on USB connection mode -> and select MTB then press "OK" I  return to the "Connectivity settings" screen and under "USB Connection  mode" I see "Selected: Media transfer mode"

No closer to connecting my Arc to my PC I'm afraid.

Did this, see the "Connect your phone" and when i select it --> mount card, I can see the contents of my card in My Computer, so that does the job.

Does this mean PC Companion is not reliable? i could not connect with it at all. What about updates etc? Do we need PC Companion?

PCCompanion has a lot of bugs, you can update that or if you need to update your phone download this
