My phone was working perfectly until I was prompted to update my phone to Android 2.1.1. yesterday. Since then, each time I try to look at my inbox, the application crashes with this message
The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I've checked and changed some of the mail settings but can't find any way to stop the process crashing
Is there a fix or a workaround or should I (indeed is it even possible to?) roll back to the previous version of Android?
Thanks,
Suzanne

try
settings
privacy settings
settings reset
&
factory reset
this will erase everything on your phone (not the SDcard)
simple way to solve this issue, repair your firmware (2.1) with PCCompanion or Update Service, that should solve it
PC Companion says my software is all up to date. I have Firmware version 2.1-update 1. Can you tell me if there is a later version?
thats how you fix it, once it say that you have the latest sofware it ask you if you want to Repair or to install it anyway, click on it and it will repair your firmware, make sure you backup everything before that
OK, I did all that (backup user data, repair software installation, restore user data, manually reconfigure my home screen etc, reinstate all my apps, accounts, passwords etc).
Then I opened my inbox and then the email process crashed again with the same error message.
So, I'm sorry to report that repairing the software didn't fix it. Do you have any other suggestions?
I tried settings>privacy settings>settings reset and still had the problem.
Then I tried settings>privacy settings>factory reset and restored my backup and *it works fine now*!
Thanks for your help. I have to admit that I was really angry that a simple software update yesterday caused all this problem and caused me about 3 hours extra work.
Please note. If anybody chooses to solve a similar problem in this way that you'll need to back up your phone settings before you do the factory reset or any of the software repairs I mentioned earlier in order to be able to restore your personal data to the phone. Also, backup doesn't save the personalisation of your home screens or accounts settings eg for email, so you will have extra work to do to get the phone back up and running.
