Hello, just yesterday I updated my mobile to the now available version 2.3 and I'm already thinking how I could go back to the 2.1
The graphics are now fancier and more ornamental, but the actual phone I think is slightly slower.
Could any knowledgeable person explain to me if there are any issues with the upgrade ?
I now have Flash player, but I admit the quality of the image is rather mediocre.
Does the upgrade have an effect at the quality of the camera ?
I tried to shoot a very short video, and I get the idea that there is something wrong.
What I'm certain is wrong, is that I cannot any more switch off the vibration when I type something on the keyboard ( excellent idea to drain the battery an then force the user to buy a new one), and also, I'm not really the apps person, I had only three, and now, one of them ( a radio station from Bavaria ) is plagued by streaming problems. I unistalled and reinstalled the app, with no result.
Up until a few hours before the upgrade it was working like a clockwork.
It seems to me that for the sake of Flash, ( and not at its best ) other features ( and possibly speed ) are sacrificed.
Can someone tell me if ( and in case of a yes, how ) to go back to 2.1 ?

I wonder why this website is slow for you, I don't have any issues with it, are you sure is not your internet connection? you should download Google Chrome on your computer
there are other browsers that you can use
regarding the keyboard
settings -> sound -> audible touch tones, audible selection, screen lock sounds, HAPTIC FEEDBACK uncheck all
Other browsers ?? It's the first ever time I hear something like this for a mobile, how can I find out more ?
What is available, what are the advantages ?
I did the thing with the Haptic for the keyboard, but a ( very mild ) vibration is still present.
you can go to the market or on your computer access the market
market.android.com

https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser&feature=search_result

The advantages is that it allow you to customize your web experience, it could be gesture controls, or better video experience
there shouldn't be any vibration left after you turn off the haptic feedback, the only reason there will be a vibration is if you receive an SMS/MMS and you have vibration notification on
This sounds very useful, I'll examine them and come back.
Regarding the vibration, I know, and have no problem with the one for SMS etc, but the one when I type still persists.
It is less strong than the one of the SMS and the other similar notifications, but it is still there.
I remember when I had the same problem with 2.1, I pessed something when I was in typing mode, but I don't remember what...
open your messaging app -> any conversation -> tap on the wrench -> uncheck vibration on keypress
It is possible to downgrade to v2.1. Have a look at the following post
http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/19735
In the post above you can see the link below to choose which version of 2.1 firmware you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
I have upgraded both my X10s to v2.3 and it seems slightly more responsive.
.
Uliwooly has given some links and tips you can try.
If you still want to downgrade, the decision is yours to make.
First of all a big thank you to uliwooly for the latest instructions about the vibration. It has now been switched off !
Second, I had a look at all the suggested links above and I'd like to ask both of you, (or anyone else who could know) the following:
Does a different browser mean a different layout, or is it simply a different app, that you click and then you browse ? I mean will apps behave differently or their icons and functions remain unaffected ?
Is there any way of making the app that doesn't function after the upgrade work ?
If not, someone once suggested that I could contact the developer, but if it works in other phones the answer could be it's my problem and not theirs...
Does the upgrade have any ( adverse ) effects on the camera/camcorder function ?
Can I remove from the initial screen the line that says: Update network status, as well as the playcard style display of messages ?
Finally the links about how to go back to 2.1 seem too technical to me, so I'll probably stick with it for the moment and see how I can make it behave properly.
Thanks again
on your computer go to the market
market.android.com and look for the apps that you want to keep or install on 2.3 and see if they are compatible with 2.3.3, most are, but there are few apps that won't (quite small percentage)
the other browsers behave a bit different, just like IE, chrome, firefox, safari, etc work on a comptuer, they do the same but a bit different, like dolphin allow you to use Gestures to do different things
check dolphin browser
I haven't seen any app that doesn't work after the update, besides a beta test app by sony ericsson to take panoramic pictures which was designed only for the X10 on 2.1
what do you mean with this
"Can I remove from the initial screen the line that says: Update network status, as well as the playcard style display of messages ?"
