unfortunately settings has stopped working on Sony M5 Dual E5663

Whenever I am trying to chnage my lock screen. I am getting error "setting has stopped working" and I am not able to change my screen lock.

I have updated my phone to Android 6.

Please help

Hi @jagadeesh-,

Would it be possible for you to take a bug report of this? If so then I can forward it for investigation.

To do this:

  1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number.
  2. Go back and select Developer options then turn on "USB debugging".
  3. Select Logger buffer size and change it to "4 M"
  4. Restart your phone, then replicate this.
  5. Go back to Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report".

When the report is ready you will receive a notification. Tap the notification to share it. I suggest you upload it to Google Drive and then choose to share a public link to the upload and include the link in the PM.

I have done this by following your suggessions please resolve my issue as soon as possible and fix this bug

Facing same issue again and again even after factory reset of device

@jagadeesh- When you performed the factory reset of your device, did you do this through the phone's Settings menu or with Xperia Companion? If you did it through Settings, could you also try a software repair using Xperia Companion?

I have done my factory rest through my phone settings and the problem was not cleared then i have done repair through sony campanion and yet the issue was not resolved.

Atlast i took my phone to sony service center and explained about the problem even they dont have any idea about the problem and said to take backup of my phone and they updated software again saying that update will clear the issues it helped for 5 hrs and again the problem has arised that unfortunately settings has stopped when i want to change my screen lock

please resolve the bug as soon as possible

Interesting to note that the lock settings work just fine under guest mode account, although trying to change them under "admin" account generates the previously mentioned error in my phone also. SONY, PLEASE WAKE UP AND STOP DISRESPECTING YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!

This is being investigated but I do not have any news to share at this moment, sorry to say. I will do what I can to push this forward and as soon as I have anything new to share I will post it here.

When i go to settings>lock screen & security >screen lock, this message will appear 'Unfortunately, Settings has stoped'. Therefore i couldn't set password for the device. Does anybody know a solution to this? I am using build 30.2.B.1.21
