unfortunately settings has stopped working on Sony M5 Dual E5663

Whenever I am trying to chnage my lock screen. I am getting error "setting has stopped working" and I am not able to change my screen lock.

I have updated my phone to Android 6.

Please help

Could you try rebooting into safe mode and see if you are able to change this setting then?

I am also seeing this issue "settings has stopped" when try changing my lock pattern.

I've tried to boot into safe mode, yet the same error message appear when I try changing the lock patter again.

What to shall I do next ?

Hi @Smurf2002, sorry to hear that.

Try clearing data for the Settings app and see if that helps.

You can do this in Settings > Apps > [menu] > Show system > Settings > Storage > Clear storage.

Still the same even after clearing Settings data. Can't change lock screen pattern in both normal & safe mode.

In that case I suggest that you make a backup with the help of Xperia Companion, then perform a factory data reset. This can be done in Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.

i am facing this problem of unfortunately settings has stopped working when wanted to set screen lock

even though i run it in safe mode able to change it but when wanted to change once again its showing the same problem could you please help us providing update for this problem

only solution is : Visit Service Center and ask them to repair the software. I also did the same because in safe mode i am getting the same issue.
