Hello there!I bought this phone yesterday and when I updated it then started stuttering issues and sometimes unresponsive apps. I noticed that after the update my only game on the phone which is Subway Surf started stuttering and lagging almost the whole time.So my question is how do I fix these issues. I've tried downloading Sony pc companion on my pc but when I download it pops error and cant open it tried Internet Explorer browser but it happened the same what should I do please help!
Well... it's February 2016
Bought my phone two weeks ago and i'm terribly disappointed. The in-game (heavy app) stuttering compares to my experience with the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, but with that phone that is to be expected it only had a 1ghz processor.
I think this is just poor optimization in the software and i can't believe they haven't really fixed it yet.
The only suggestions to fix the performance that i've found are by rooting your phone and moding it. Which is crazy to think that that's the only way to really do it
so my question is does anyone know what the supposed new update to Android Marshmallow will bring? in terms of performance
or better yet has anyone got any answers from sony concerning this problem? (meaning are they looking in to fixing it or are they just gonna leave it unsolved)
My phone:
Sony xperia M4 aqua
Model: E2303
Build: 26.1.A.2.167
Android: 5.0 Lolipop
I experienced similar problems with my Xperia M4 Aqua, which appear to have started after the last update. Namely:
The Xperia Companion App advises "Your device is up to date"
I have used Xperia Companion to Perform a "Software repair", but the same problems are exhibited after the lengthy "repair" process advises it has completed successfully.
Phone details:
Model: E2303
Android version: 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
Build Number: 26.3.A.1.33
1.3 GB free of 4.0GB
Are similar problems occurring for all M4 Aqua users, who have taken this update?
If yes - Do Sony have any advice on work in the pipeline to resolve it?
If no - Any tips on what else I might try to get the phone back into a reasonable operational state?
Thanks for your rapid response.
Following your advice I have tried:
1. Clear or delete cache data from storage.
Settings -> Storage -> Cache, "Clear cached data?" -> Choose "OK"
(cache storage now states 1.67 MB)
2. Factory reset.
Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory data reset -> Choose "OK", enter PIN, press "Erase Everything",
phone enters "Power Off", then restarts, after approx 6 minutes, welcome screen is displayed;
Already notice lag (approx 3 seconds) to pop-up keyboard for entering network password.
Skipped restore backup step. Allowed pre-installed apps to refresh / update, having disabled any that are surpluss to my requirements.
Shut down phone and restarted.
* Internal Storage now reports 4.76 GB used of 8.00 GB
Unfortunately the phone, whilst performance slightly better , is still very sluggish:
* Open Camera (rear camera image diaplyed) - approx 22 secs.
* Open Google Chrome browser (with full wifi signal) - approx 9 secs.
* Show keyboard in Google Chrome browser (when clicking on the search field) - approx 6 secs.
Can you advise what sort of performance you get from your M4 Aqua, for these actions?
Is there something I have missed in the process you advised?
The phone had the following settings prior to doing the reset:
Android version: 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
Build Number: 26.3.A.1.33
Xperia Companion reports "Phone is Up to date".
I have performed a factory reset, as per point 2 (in my prior post).
Device does NOT revert to an earlier software version of Android (as expected).
I rebooted in SAFE mode and tried out a few actions:
* Open Camera (rear camera image diaplyed) - approx 6 secs.
* Open Google Chrome browser (with full wifi signal) - approx 3 secs.
* Show keyboard in Google Chrome browser (when clicking on the search field) - approx 1 sec.
So in SAFE mode performance seems reasonable.
The only apps disabled are the "Sony Clock" and the "Google app".
I'm guessing its not the clock so I disabled the "Google app" and restarted the phone in standard mode.
Sorted - Disabling "Google App" has provided reasonable performance for other apps.
Thanks for your assistance.
I have tried google camera application(V 2.7.010).Only HDR mode doesn't work on M4 aqua, but there will be no shutter lag. Photos and video are good. You can download this apk from apkmirror.com and just search 'Google Camera 2.7.010'.
It's not hardware issue, it's only because of sony's bad software.
