hi, i just got this new Bluray DVD of amazon.co.uk and it clearly sayed that it was USA import, but i though nothing of this and went to play the bluray. But when i try and play it, it just comes up with this message
*This Disc Will Not Play
dues to the region setting on this player.
i was just wondering if there is a way to play the Bluray? and if so what is it?
thanks

blu ray players are configured for the region ie europe region 2 dvd section can be region freeded but might have issues updating player software "usa import "means that it will play region 1 discs only the player has been configured for 240v/50hz operation some one on this site also bought a blu ray player from france with bbci player installed and cannot play content i guess the lesson is buy from uk source if you want to use in uk as far as i know there is'nt a way to free blu ray region i have bought a blu ray disc from amazon from usa and it must be region 2 as i have'n tried to region free the player

So are you saying that there is no way of actualy playing this bluray disc on the current player i have now. because i have been searching the internet for hours and people have been talking about changing the area code on players like these.
thanks TheLast
as far as i know you may be able to free dvd region but not the blu-ray region and this may cause an update issue with the player if you go to web sites for a region free blu ray player you will find that only the dvd part of the player is region free so if your machine is set to play region B blu ray discs then that is what the player will play and no other region blu ray regions are confirmed by the software installed in the machine

As you correctly say most Blu-ray players don't allow a change of Blu-ray region, only DVD playback region. That is also true for Sony players including the BDP-S370/S373 models.
