Usb mode connecting ...screen of death ???

My Sony Cyber-shot W300 has a problem.. sometimes, in the middle of using it or right after turning it on, USB Mode will flash onto the screen, with "switch to menu" on the bottom. This happens even if I haven't used the USB cable plug-in for a long time. I thought maybe if I inserted the USB and took it off, it would go back to normal, but no such luck. I have taken the battery out, charged it, removed the memory stick, and left it off for a day or two but when I turn it back on, it still says USB Mode. How do I get it to stop?

I am not too familiar with Sony Cybershot as I haven't used mine that much. Anyway, have you check the settings if there is a possible way to turn this screen menu off?

No luck once I charge the battery put it in turn the camera on .is only one screen i get which says usb mode connecting .no possiblity on viewing the pictures or anything else.the funny thing is once the battery run out of power and has just one bar .it starts working normally.so i bought a new battery just to see how it goes .same problem.now i have a camera that works only with a dead battery .have no clue what to do
