I recently purchased a DSC - W630 having been highly satisfied with my DSC-P72. I have been really unhappy with the photo quality and have noticed that I can point the camera at the same subject several times and each time the camera choses different areas to focus on. The majority of my photos I have taken so far are of people and in numerous cases one or more people in the photo are out of focus. I have the camera set to intelligent auto and I am just really disappointed. Any help/advice would be really appreciated.

Hello Denise - Welcome to the Sony Forums
Intelligent Auto issues aside, it may have something to do with the way that the Focus has been set up on the camera. The various modes available within the Focus menu on the camera are explained in the online user guide here:
http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4411428111/eng/contents/04/02/12/12.html
You may find this easier to navigate than the regular manual.
If it is constantly moving to different areas and not giving the desired results, you may find that having it set to 'Center AF' will give you better quality images as the camera will have a set point to focus on which should enable you to compose your shots accordingly.
Hope this helps,
Simon

Thank you for the prompt advice.
The focusing options I have are tracking focus, subject focus or tracking focus off. I have tried turning the tracking focus off and it makes little difference with still objects so I need to do it with with more photos with action in them (ie my children).
I think that I have been spoilt with my DSC-P72 as the photos are amazing. This camera still works fine, I bought the W630 for convenience due to its size. I will persevere and report back when I have played with it some more.
