Normal time to charge completely sony c5 ultra dual

HI, 

  I have Sony c5 ultra dual. When I bought it in 2015, it used to charge in 3 hours (that time it was on Android  lollypop. It's now on marshmallow.) 

I have recently noticed that it takes lot of time to charge the battery. It took from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm ( 5 hours to completely charge from 0 to 100).

A few days ago it was on charging for more than 12 hours and still was not completely charged (this happened only once.)

I want to ask is it OK. I don't remember how much time it took earlier. It's been on marshmallow for a long time. 

And also, does the charging time get affected if the phone is on 'stamina mode'? And how can I check if my charger is OK, is there any way?

Hi @Pp04!

According to the Environmental declaration it should take around 5 hours to charge your device from 0% to 100% when it's powered off and charged using the wall mounted charger included together with your device.

When it takes a lot longer to charge the device, are you using it or are you just charging it? There could be some applications that are still using more battery than they should so if you experience this again, try turning the device off and continue to charge it, or restart it in safe mode and see if there is any change.

The Stamina mode should be turned off automatically when you start charging the device, so this should not have any impact on how long the charge time is.

     Thanks for your reply .

I charge with the charger I received with the phone. The phone is not switched off when I charge. I am not using the phone when it is charging. 

Today I put it to charge on 14 % battery which became 1% while it was charging. After after four hours of charge( from 11:30 pm to 3:30 am) it was charged to about 58 % only .

I am sending the screen shot of the charging pattern .

I don't have very many apps. But I will try to charge it with switched off and then on safe mode and let you know.

Today again I had problem charging my phone even after 4:30 hours of continous charging ( it was not used while charging) it charged up to only 65%. Then I powered off it while it was still charging, and within 2 minutes it was charged to 100%. Is this a software problem? How can I correct this? While in use the battery does not drain at faster rate. Thank-you.!

Hi 

Today again I again had battery related issues. The battery went down from 30% to 15 % in not time and from 15 % to 0 in just seconds .

Then I left  the phone for about an hour without charge and then plugged in the charger with the phone switched off. In about an hour it charged upto 23 % and when I switched on the phone, it instantly became 81%. I again switched off the phone and  there was no fluctuation .

How should I correct all this? Please help.

Hi again @Pp04, thank you for the excellent information!

Did you also try charging your device in safe mode, or only when it was powered off? If you didn't try in safe mode, please do that, so we can see if there is any downloaded application(s) that is the cause of the behaviours that you are experiencing.

If there is no change and the battery goes down very quickly again from around 30%, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Do note that this repair will delete all data stored on the internal storage, so it's important that you backup your data before starting with the repair.

I was charging it in safe mode from 11%. In little more than one hour it was charged upto 23% . Then out of curiosity I restarted the phone while it was charging in safe mode  . The battery again  instantly became 73 % I have then switched,  it off while still charging and it is continued  to charge from 73 % . 

next time I will charge it in safe mode till 100%. But I want to ask that is it normal for for batter to instantly charge so much when I restart or switch off.  And also is this a software issue of some hardware issue with battery .

  I have charged the phone on safe mode. It did not take very long time but the battery drained very fast from 50 % below. 

I did a Sony software reapair. And followed the steps provided in the asnwer link but  many steps as shown in asnwer . But I did not come across many steps.

For eg. I was asked to choose if its a phone or smart watch and also not asked disconnect and keep pressing the volume down button . Have I done it wrongly? 

I just selected 'software repair'agreed to the data being erased. The software repair ran was finished in minutes and the battery which was 99% got to only 97% when I switched on the phone  .

 After repair phone was quite OK upto 70% after which it reached to 15 % in less than 30 minutes  When I plugged it to charging ( the charging  light was on, the charging symbol was showing) but the battery still kept on draining till it reached 0. The phone did not switch off though.

It looks a bit different if the device is plugged in and turned on when you start with the repair, compared to when it's powered off, but if the device was reset, the software repair was successful.

Based on the behaviour you experienced after the software repair, your device will need to be examined by a trained technician since the software repair is the last step that I can assist with and that you can do on your own.

I have not yet gone to local support Center. 

I have noticed some improvements all by itself. The charging time is now OK . Only issue I now face is that after reaching about 50% of charge the battery drains very very fast, reaching 0 within a few minutes; but the battery usage graph keeps showing the 50% mark . Before reaching 50 % charge the phone works fine .

I was hoping if there is a way ,this can be corrected without going to repair center ?
