Hi @emsir64

I personally would perform a Factory Reset to remove any glitches running in the background.

How to reset your Sony TV with or without the remote (soft restart, power reset or factory settings)...

In these situations, I would disconnect everything just to eliminate a problem with a connected device.

If that doesn't work then you should contact Sony Support or your Retailer.

Sony Support Consumer Electronics

I have been running v6.7240 on my KD-43X89J and XR-55A95K for a couple of weeks now with zero problems (jinxed it now!).

But, shouldn't Sony test updates before releasing. Why do I have to factory reset when I update? I've never did that before. My connected devices are not turned on when I don't use them (Blue-Ray and Surround receiver). So I don't see any reason this should affect my TV .There was no problem before the latest update. I think the update created the problem. Not my connected devices .No, I don't want to do a factory reset. I want Sony to fix their updates and check them before releasing them

Problem fixed! Completely shut down my TV for 10 minutes and turned it on again and haven't had any problem since- (12 days ago)

If there were a problem with the update then the pages here would be full of irate users.

I applied the update a few days after it was released.

After updating I did notice one anomaly using the TV media player where clicking on the Play/ Pause button

would mute the sound rather than play or pause. After switching off the TV and unplugging it for 5 minutes

starting up again the issue had been resolved and has not resurfaced. Have you tried that.

How did you do the update I always download it from the Sony website and put it on a USB stick and install it that way rather than over the air direct to the TV. Any devices connected to my TV are disconnected before I update.

If you were updating over the air direct to the TV were there any other devices in your house sharing the internet service at that time that may have caused a blip in the service to the TV.

Why are you so against doing a factory reset, it's easy to do and may resolve your issue.

I am sure Sony test the updates before they release them of course they do.

There are probably thousands of Sony TVs that have had this update.

Hi Davey, is it possibly because if you do a full factory reset you then have to log in to your apps again such as the catch-up services or maybe Prime and Netflix , depending on how many you use can be a pain.

Yeah probably, but spending a few minutes re entering login details etc or staring at a blank TV that cost you over

£1,000.

Any see above the situation was resolvedly turning the TV off and restarting, should've tried that before posting their question.

Yes agree, but some people come to the community just for a bit of advice and assistance, nice to see OP has sorted the problem.

Updated to this via USB.  Never had any issue since its release, also the previous monthly issue i was having with boot loops now seems resolved.  Much better release than the previous update.  Sometimes its nice just to see if anyone else is having similar issues and if theres a solution before altering things.
