LAN speed - kd49x8005cbu

Hey,

does any of the knowledgeable posters know whats Ethernet's speed in kd49x8005cbu, 100M or 1Gbps?

This model supports other high-speed connections AFAIK (HDMI 2.0a, USB 3.0 and WiFi n/ac), nonetheless for my home network and stream stability I would prefer 1Gbps LAN (if its supported, ofc). 100M is nearly useless for 4K, therefore its surprising so many manufacturers include it instead of 10x faster version.

Hi there

Unfortunately the ethernet port is 10/100Mbps.  I have already submitted a suggestion to Sony a couple of months back that they really should be providing 10/100/1000Mbps speeds now.  See screenshot below:

Thanks for letting me know Quinnicus, and you are absolutely right. 100Mbps LAN is outdated and inadequate for 4k content, how could powerhouse like Sony not see it?

Its basic math, even average bitrate 4k movies are using 200-300Mbps, while highest bitrate 4K can even saturate 1Gbps, how could professional engineers put in 100Mbps NIC and think "it should suffice"? Its like putting wooden wheels on Ferrari.
