Disney+ 4k not working

Hi

 

I've the Sony KD-49X8305C and have Disney+ installed. Also have Prime and Netflix installed.

 

For Prime and Netflix I get 4k where applicable, but not Disney+. In settings it is set to automatic upto 4k UHD or something but every film is HD and 5.1.

 

Disney confirmed that since June 29th they increased streaming to allow 4k.

 

Anyone confirm that they're getting 4k using the android app

It's required to update the disney app to get full 4K/atmos support

 

And yes I do have both

TV firmware upto date.

Reinstalled Disney+ but still no 4k

How do you know its not 4k. The only thing I can check is if HDR is active for Disney when a film is playing.  Or are you saying you only see HD label in the film preview?

It only says HD in the film description, I'd assumed it would indicate 4k

You should see 4K Ultra HD in the description.

I have 2 Samsung TVs as well and the oldest from 2016 has the disney app but doesn't show 4k, despite being a 4k set. 

How old is the Sony?

2015 TV.

It does show netflix and prime in 4k

It sounds like it's only HD on your set  On my 2016 samsung most apps are 4k with the exception of disney and Play Movies

Have you tried an online chat to disney to ask about their app and your TV model

I spent quite a bit of time with disney chat, they went through everything and couldn't figure out why.
