Hi guys
I have a Sony A7 III, and I've come across a problem that I can't figure out and can't find any fix for online anywhere.
I record videos in Movie Mode but I record my Audio using an external recorder/mic and sync up the audio and video files in Post. This has worked for years, until now.
I noticed that my video files recorded by my Sony plays back a bit slower in some part of the video, inconsistently throughout the entire clip. I noticed because my audio files I recorded to my SoundDevices Recorder is not in sync with the audio recorded by the camera.
In the screenshot below, you can see the audio that's recorded from my camera with the video clip, and below it, the actual audio from my sound recorder. And you can see the difference in the timeline length for each (they should be the same).
If I use a wireless microphone connected to the camera, no external audio recording, I know its still a problem because my audio sounds like I am speaking in a bit of slow motion and sounds weird.
I have updated the firmware to the latest version of my Sony camera, and also reset camera settings - but still the same issue.
Any ideas or recommendations for me to try and fix this, would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hi JD
I actually found out why it was doing this. I was recording in 4K 25p, but my project file in FCPX was defaulting to 4K 23.98p after I had updated the app, and didn't catch that when creating new project files. So it was the framerate difference that was causing it!
All resolved now
Thanks for the recommendation though!
Have you tried using a different memory card? It's a very rare thing to happen, but I've had countless inexplicable issues simply due to memory cards dying or being weird in different ways, so that'd be the first thing to try.
(unless you haven't tried taking the battery and memory out for a few minutes to let the camera depower).
Hope this helps!

That's great to hear!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your findings, it'd be even more helpful if you mark your last post as the solution as I'm sure most people would totally miss that (and it probably would have never crossed my mind either!).

Yep, sorry! Completely slipped my mind to do that! Thanks for the replies though!
