SEL 55-210 lens will not focus

Can anybody help me please
I have a sony nex5ry and tried connecting the 55-210 lens, but upon power on you immediately hear a loud motor noise which must be a focus motor as the camera will not focus, and you can see on the screen as the motor sounds the screen trying to focus.
Anybody had this, if so is there a solution??

Hi Freestylerich,

What I would recommend if you haven't done so already is double checking you haven't accidentally clicked enabled the 'MF' mode, which is for manual focus.

If you have it on AF, try removing and reapplying the lens.

Apart from that, I'm all out of solutions. 😮

if the above doesnt work, how old is it ? if its still in warranty i'd send it in to sony to look at it.
