PC mirror via HDMI has hiccups

I've connected my laptop to my Sony Bravia KDL-32EX401 and it works. However this is what happens: with timely intervalls and for no apparent reason the TV image sometimes becomes darker and the audio becomes muzzled as if the quality fell down a pinhole. Then 5-20 minutes later it returns for normal and then 5-20 minutes later it reverts back to a darker image with muzzled audio.

What is going on, is it the TV, the cable, the laptop or some combination?

I've played around in the settings for hours, turning power saving mode off, I've checked that the cable is attached properly I've checked that the resolution matched etc.

Do you guys have any idea?

Have you looked at the power saving modes on the laptop itself? Just a suggestion

Hi thanks for taking the time.

Yeah I turned it off, didnt help unfortunately. Also that wouldn't explain the difference in sound clarity.
