KDL-48WD653 starting software update stuck at 64%

Apparently the TV turned itself on to prompt if we want to update and my mother in law clicked update.

I came back from work and still stuck on black scree saying "starting software update..." "64%".

I am not sure if it is safe to power cycle, but nothing is happening.

What are my options?

I noticed in some thread there were comments about slow internet connections, but I usually get 70Mb download especially on weekday daytime.

Hi there

That is interesting indeed. What I mean is, is that I have only seen this error in recent times on Android based TVs and yours isnt an Android based TV - hence the fix that I have will not work on your TV.

I can only therefore assume that the update has failed for some reason.
