Amazon Fire stick

Hello,

Need a bit of help with this.

I have an only Sony (kdl-40v4000). It's not a smart TV but I have been using a Google Chromcast (2nd hdmi port), with my satellite in the first port. When I used the Chromecast the toggle thing didn't work to switch to use the hdmi2 input, but when I started casting from my phone/tablet it made the TV switch over to use it.

I have just bought an Amazon Fire stick to replace the Chromecast. I thought it would just work, however when i have it plugged into the 2nd hdmi port The TV doesn't pick it up. It doesn't pick up the satellite either if I have it plugged in.

What do I need to do to make the 2nd port active/pick up signal? I know that it works because the Chromecast can broadcast on it. Do i need to use the remote control (which i cannot find) to program the TV to make it active?
