Standalone update to VAIO care

I've had my first VAIO laptop for about one hour, and it is driving me nuts. I have dozens of questions, but this one seems to be crucial.

Every time I go into VAIO Care, it tells me that an update is available, and that I cannot proceed without doing the update. I try to update, and it tells me that the download failed. I was listening to music on the internet at the time, so probably not a network problem.

On a couple of occasions, the download starts. Then it stops. Then nothing more happens...

Is there some place I can go to download a complete replacement for VAIO Care, without using the VIAO s/w in the first place?
