IEEE 1394 Network

Hi,

I've just bought a new Vaio with Vista installed. I also have an older Vaio with XP on. Both machines have a small IEEE1394 port.
To avoid confusion I'll call it a 1394 port, I know some people call it iLink or Firewire.
The XP machine shows a 1394 network adapter, the Vista one does not. Does anyone know if Vista supports 1394 networking.

I'm new to Vista, but I tried to intall a new network adapter butit does not automatically detect it and if you try to manually install it, there's no driver. Any ideas.

Hi Dave.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has discontinued support for IP networking over the IEEE 1394 bus in Vista.

LOL typical Micro$oft!

You're much better off with a piece of CAT5 and gigabit network cards, it's faster.
