SONY VAIO SVL2412Z1EB SSD Drive

As we've had the Vaio 24" Touchscreen All-in-One PC for 6 years and currently using Windows 10 Pro Version 1909 without too many issues however I've noticed despite cleaning and backing up weekly occasionally it's a little slow on booting up. Similarly searches can be a little slow as a result I'm considering replacing the HDD with a new Samsung 860 QVO 2 TB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD with a couple of queries which I'm hoping someone on the forum can advise: -

A/ Is this a suitable model to replace the HDD 2 TB unit, if so can someone confirm the SATA details fitted to the PC for example is it SATA 1, 2 or three?

B/ What is the recommended mounting Bracket and appropriate cables which may be required or is it a case of removal of existing drive and plug in the connectors?

C/ I've looked at this video (youtube.com/watch?v=TU7skvKf0iM) which shows the ease of accessing the drive and it appears to be relatively easy especially as the Samsung Software would migrate complete details across from HDD to SSD but is there anything else I may need to consider or do?

Online you can buy an SSD (2,5", SATA III) and a caddy for VAIO's Slot 3,5".

The originale HDD is SATA II but this is not a problem for the new one... The speed of SATA III will adapt to SATA II.

If I can suggest a Program for cloning (HDD > SSD), Aomei Backupper, also in free version is possibile ti clone the Disk or Partition.

In relation to cloning of the original drive this has several partitions as shown in the screen shot, can you confirm if everything is copied across to the new SSD with the exception obviously of Drive (E) which is connected via USB?

With Aomei Backupper you can select (Clone) the entire Disk or the partitions you want...

Hi Dorsetred,

I think that replacing the HDD should only be done by the engineers. As VAIO's HDDs are tailor-made for them. Sony usually recommends getting internal components changed by the service centres.

I filtered by personal computers and found a couple of service centres: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters/categories=personal-computers

Try contacting them first.
