Recovery Media ignored

I have just taken delivery of a Vaio SVS1313C5E which was preinstalled with Windoes 8 (much to my disappointment). I have followed the instructions and created the Recovery Media (6 DVD discs). I thought it prudent to check that the discs were working but find that the machine does not boot from the DVD. I also installed Acronis True Image for making backups and created a boot disc (CD) for that. The machine will not boot from that either. How do I get it to boot from the CD drive? Both DVDs and CDs can be read fine, they just won't boot.

Hi Phil,

I don't have a machine running Win 8 but I believe you need to press the Assist button when fully shut down and then, on the screen that opens, press F11 to boot from media.

Thanks Rich, you are correct. Pity it doesn't say that in the setup instructions!
