Have you tried following the Maintenance section of the Manual?

If you already have done so, you should probably reach out to the Sony support reps as it may need repairing.

I have looked at the manual, but there is nothing in there about the speed being wrong or how to fix that. I was hoping it might be a known and easily fixed problem, but it looks like I have to bring it in then.

This unit may need inspection, you should reach out to your local repair center to do so.
