It clearly tells you that all the encrypted data in the sdcard will be unreadable after a factory reset /software repair.

So I did a factory reset on my phone today just after doing a backup to my SD card. After the reset the SD card backup doesn't show (which I assume is to do with the encryption) and all the data on the sd card is unreadable.

I tried re-enabling the encryption with the same unlock pattern but the files are still unreadable (however the file names are all eeadable).

Is there a way of recovering the encrypted files? I did notice an option in backup that allows you to put in a pin for your sd card but as I use I pattern I don't know what it is looking for.

Does the encryption key not get backed up with an online backup? I did restore it from a much older backup and still can't view anything
