Xperia M power button screen delay

Yesterday I dropped my Sony Xperia M in the toilet. I put it in rice. Everything is working fine now except for the power button. When I press the power button to lock the screen, it immediately locks, as it should. But when I press the power button for the screen to turn on, it takes about 7 seconds for the screen to come up. It is rather annoying having to wait for my screen to come on. Anyone know how to fix it? Or why it is doing this? What can I do?
