Sony Bravia KD-49XF7596 VLC save network credentials

I'm using VLC for Android 3.4.4 on my Sony Bravia KD-49XF7596 TV and when entering the network username & password to access my Windows 7 shares, I don't see an option to save these credentials. I have to enter them anew every time I turn on the TV. I have seen screenshots on the Internet where there is a "Remember password" checkbox available under the password field, but I don't have that here.

Any ideas?

Ah, well, I guess I'll reply to myself on this one.

I went to "Settings" inside VLC and then down to "Advanced" and then selected "Clear app data" which basically resets VLC to "factory defaults". After I re-opened VLC again, the "Remember password" checkbox then appeared on the user/password prompt.
