I have changed from a 10 year old Panasonic to a Sony, and I have a problem with the headphone connection, the volume,even when it's set to minimum it is still too loud,and getting into Settings is very tiresome. Also why am I given a picture quiz after I have signed in ? Did I make a mistake by choosing Sony.

Hi @jonnyreb, Can you elaborate more on how the headphones are connected as i think this model doesn't even support Bluetooth connections.

For the picture quiz make sure to turn off demo mode as it will randomly give you pop ups and ads, check this link:

Thank you Griffin for your quick reply. My headphones [with no volume control on them] are connected by cable to the port on the side of the TV, and although I have turned it down to the lowest possible in AV settings,it is still too loud. I have done a factory reset.

Go to System Settings> Set Up> AV Preset> Headphone/ Audio Out.

On my Sony TV you can select between Headphone, Audio Out (fixed), Audio Out (Variable)

and Subwoofer. I would select Audio Out (Variable) and see if you can now control the

level of audio on your headphones using the TVs remote control.

As for the picture quiz it does say that it is there to determine whether you are a human being or a robot.

Sorry daveyh64, I have been trying all day to reply,but I have been blocked from signing in. Finally after being asked to provide just my password again I got in. [after of course finding the three motorcycles again, I think they believe I am a very clever robot] I have also tried several times to register my product. I timed it at 15 seconds with lots of scrolling to get to 'av setup' This is the first time I have experienced Sony,and I find it very frustrating. Anyway I tried your suggestion, but the 'variable out' did not work. I am now positioning my headphones just in front of my ears,and that lowers the volume.

Hey jonnyreb, regarding the registration, make sure to type the model as follows: KDL-43WF663. Copy paste it if you would like.

Regarding the headphones, did you try a different one?

Thanks Hannah. Typing my model number correctly did the trick,and I have now registered. I have set the headphone volume in settings as low as possible, but it is too loud, and I have no control over it. [I wonder if this is a fault covered by warranty ?] I have tried two headphones. At the moment I can adjust the volume by moving the ear pieces forward slightly off my ears.

Okay lets try again now that I have sourced some headphones and plugged them into my Sony TV,

not exactly the same TV as yours but give it a go.

Click on Home on the remote control.

Click on System Settings> Set Up> AV Set Up> Headphone/ Audio Out.

Set for Headphone.

Underneath that do you see Headphone Speaker Link set to ON (headphones only)

or Off (sound output from both TV speakers and headphones))

Underneath that you should see Headphone Volume, set the slider to a comfortable level,

for me I have set at 10..

Come out of the settings menu.

When adjusting the volume on the remote control with headphones plugged in you

should see the headphone symbol next to the on screen volume slider.

Are you now able to listen to the TV using the headphones and have them at a comfortable listening level.

daveyh64 you solved my problem when you said 'now plug in your headphones'. On my old Panasonic I always kept the phones plugged in, so now I know that I must only plug in the phones when I need them. Thank you, you have saved me a lot of aggravation.
