Sony XR-65A80JU no HD Channels

Bought the XR-65A80JU November 2021. I cannot receive any HD channels, never have. I have re-tuned TV, factory reset and still no HD channels. My previous Sony KD55A8BU, which I still have, finds all HD channels using same connecting co-axial leads and output as does all my other TV's.

In digital manual tuning the signal level and signal quality fluctuate from 0 to 80 constantly on the XR-65A80JU but are stable on the KD-55A8BU.

Do I have a faulty tuner?

Hi @catseye277, Did you check the software version on your TV?

It might not be up to date.

Hey there,

From what you said it seems that the main antenna feeding multiple TVs.
I'd say try to connect it to the TV directly, and tune once more: https://bit.ly/3JfMBOx.
And if it's the same you can reset the TV and test it once more: https://bit.ly/3rxGsao.

But if it still won't find HD channels, I'd say try contacting Son directly as the TV might needs repair yes, the antenna could be faulty as you said.

Correct, I have a distribution amplifier in loft feeding 3 TV's, although only 1 TV is being used at a given time.

I will try the connect direct to the aerial next, carry out the retune/reset procedures again and see what happens.

I do believe the TV is probably faulty as I have made up a long aerial lead and connected to the aerial output from where the Sony XR-65A80JU is connected, to my 2 other TV's and all HD channels are present. Also, my Humax Fox T2 is connected to the same aerial socket as the Sony XR and the Humax has all HD channels present.

I have connected the XR-65A80JU direct to the loft TV aerial and still cannot receive HD channels. Have re-tuned and factory reset the XR-65A80 JU and still no HD channels.

I then carried out the same procedure on the KD-55A8, now in the study but was originally in the lounge prior to the purchase of the XR-65A80JU. The KD-55A8 did receive all HD channels whilst located in the lounge.

The KD-55A8 in the study was connected to the lounge TV wall socket via a 10m TV extension lead I made up.

The KD-55A8 finds 141 Freeview channels, including all HD channels.

The XR-65A80JU only finds 132 Freeview channels, no HD included. Both TV's were connected direct to the loft aerial for these tests.

Next step, a call to the relevant party.

Yea, I'd say you need to contact Sony at this point as it might be a tuner issue.

Hope it gets sorted soon.
