KD55XE93 dead after firmware update?

Tried switching the TV on this evening and it just went into an infinite bootloop:

Sony logo -> animated Android logo -> brief black screen -> animated android logo, ad infinitum.

Nothing helped: pressing any of the Action / Home / HELP buttons on the remote during any stage of the boot up sequence, powering AC off and on, etc.

I then tried to do a hard factory reset by doing the POWER+Vol Down button, once it came to life there was a multicolour circle followed only by the little Android robot and a big red triangle with exclamation mark. Nothing I can do changes this: no matter what combination of buttons I now try to press, and when I power off/on it now goes straight back to this screen rather than the boot loop (coloured circle then dead android bot).

I note there was a firmware issued in the last day or so, could this have done something bad?

Not really sure how to proceed with this.. so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi estiann, have you tried to unplug the power as well as any external devices connected to the TV and then re plug the power back?
