I HAVE A SONY ANDROID TV KD-49XG9005 WITH FIRMWARE UPDATED TO V6.7140,

CAN I UPDATE THIS FIRMWARE TO v6.4960.

I WANT THE APPLE TV+ APP ON THIS TV......CAN THIS HAPPEN???

IM HOPEFUL ASWELL THAT WE MAY GET Britbox UK AT SOME POINT SOON.

WHY IS IS SO SO DIFICULT FOR SONY TO GIVE ALL THE TV'S A UNIFIED SYSTEM.

ESPECIALLY IF MADE WITHIN THE SAME YEAR!!!!!

I just checked the product support page for your TV, the latest version for it is V6.7140. I believe the other version number is for a different model, which means you can't install it on this one unfortunately.

Which means Sony deliberately made this TV in such a way it was not future proof.

it is not fit for purpose if it cannot house the Apple TV+ App.

did they in all good conscience with total premeditation hinder the abilities of this tv to ensure that people would need to replace it in a misguided loyalty to buy another Sony. Mad and annoyed at such a previously honest company.

You do realize that it's not a design/technical limitation, don't you? Apps are available on certain devices on the discretion of the developer and in certain cases, special agreements are needed to make them available.

Anyways, the beauty of Android is that it's possible to side load apps. But it's not officially supported by either Sony or Apple.
