KD-55XH9505 Orange Light

Hi there,

I think there may be a bug in the software for my TV. Every so often an orange light turns on just across from the Sony Logo on the TV. I’ve disabled OK Google and there’s no timers set, and the LED for MIC is disabled. The only way to turn the light off is to restart the TV completely. But after a period of time it’ll switch itself on again.

Is this a bug with the software, is my TV listening all the time even when I’ve disabled OK Google?

I believe so. The software version is PKG6.4774.0616EUA.

Hi,

I've also got the KD-55XH9505 and have the same issue. Have tried disabling the same settings as you and have the latest software installed, but the light still randomly comes on. Not the end of the world but it is annoying.

Any fix on this yet? I’ve the same issue, no matter what I look up and change in the setting the light is still on. Frustrating.

Hi,

I have the same model albeit a different size and my understanding of the orange light you mention are described below..

when the remote button is pressed the led below the Sony logo flashes white..

In my opinion I don’t think it has anything to do with OK Google because I had never activated that option until today. The orange light when OK Google option is set to on and actively listening is directly below the Sony logo, see below..

It seems to me that this small orange light should only glow, if for example a sleep timer is active but again I don’t use those options either..

The light just appeared one day I have exhausted all options that I can think of that could possibly cause the light to illuminate..

I have been informed, by a contact in Sony, that engineers are aware of this issue and are investigating to try and identify the cause but I’m guessing this could also be an Android issue..

I have just installed an update today which sadly hasn’t fixed the issue, however, there is a workaround that will at least turn the light off..

Workaround:-

Press the mic button on the tv remote and then press the TV button twice..

Hi!

Yep. I have latest version. Problem still persists. This workaround works now but i dont think this is normal for 1000 eur TV! If i push HOME button this orange light comes up and stays up. I think this EXTRA light is annoying. Happy if someone fixes this.

I found some help guid from sony page ( https://www.sony.ee/electronics/support/articles/00246185?source=hg ). But this not helping me because i dont have Google Search in system apps. Idk.

You should try...maybe it helps.

According to this page https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/08-13_03.html this is for only TV series ZH8/XH9505 with a built-in MIC.

Hi Robert226,

You can try clearing the cached data for the entire TV (under Device Preferences - Storage - Internal Shared Storage - Cached data) then restart by holding the power button.

Thanks for helping but it does not help.

After restart TV goes to HOME screen and then this orange light lits up. Only this "press mic and then 2x TV button" makes it disappear till i go to HOME screen again. "OK Google" is still turned off.

Very annoying problem!

Hi.

I have bougjt sony bravia 65xh9505 and ofcourse i have the orange ligjt problem, after two updates of software, the last one yesterday, the problem still exists. What i figured out, when i switch the time zones between 12 and 24h system id turns off, but when i use a mic and voice searchong it pops up immediately, then, after again, switching tine to 12 or 24 it dissapears til i again use voice serching and so on and so on. Sony, fix that bug its very annoying.

Any ideas to permament resolve this problem?

Got the update. Hopes were high! But...it did not solve the problem. Same as before. I don't know who in Sony is responsible for this problem. Someone said they know about that but why they don't fix this? IT IS VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM!

Robert226, try a factory reset after the update, it sometimes needs it to settle.
