topic YouTube for Kids crashing often in Android TV

My set up is:KD-65XG9505 with HT-ZF9 soundbar.

Our younger son uses Youtube for Kids App and quiet often after you turn the tv off after using it and then on to use it, the app just freezes totally. Nothing loads.

I have to fully restart the TV for it to work again and then about 50% of the time the sounds is all 'robotic' so I need to put the TV on standby and back on again. When this is done, it works perfectly fine.

It is so wierd. We do not see it on any other apps, but then again, we hardly use other apps on the TV.

Any similar experience? Any advice?

Many thanks,

Arun

Hi Arun,

It could be related to your internet or Wi-Fi connection or it could be an issue of the YT app.

Can you please check if automatic app updates are enabled in the Google Play Store to ensure that your app is up-to-date?

Cheers

Peter

Thank you for your reply, Peter,

It's definitely not wifi; I consistently hit over 200Mb/s. Also, this is very specif to YT app.

It might be the app, but there are no other updates for it and auto-update is on.

Both TV and soundbar FWs are up-todate.

Thanks

If you don't face similar issues with other streaming apps, I'd say it's more related to the YT app as peter mentioned. Try going to Settings - Storage and reset - Internal shared storage - Cached data - Clear

You can also do the same for Youtube: Settings - Apps - Youtube - Storage - Clear (as well as uninstall updates if needed).

Win_88
