Screen tearing when watching movies in Game Mode - KD-55AG9

Hi All,

I just received my new Sony Bravia OLED TV. Model number KF55AG9.

I have set up my gaming consoles on there more specifically my PS4 Pro. I use this to watch all my blu-ray movies on as well as play games, so understandably I have selected game as my picture option.

However I did notice when watching Star Trek: TNG on blu-ray that at the bottom of the screen there is screen tearing. Like the bottom of the screen could not keep up with the rest. Once I changed picture mode to custom and adjusted setting, it was fine. I don't really want to have to keep changing picture mode if I don't have to and wondered if anyone knew of a work around?

Have you tried enabling Auto-picture mode in the settings? I think it should deliver on exactly what you want.

Hi,

Unfortunately that did not work.

As you can see, it only affects the bottom of the panel. When switching from Game mode to cinema or custom it's fine. I'm sure it isnt the panel that is the issue but it is being replaced anyway as a dead pixel was discovered a day after getting the TV :(.

Thats a settings issue.

You need to recheck the ps4 settings for blu-ray, and disable it's "automatic" settings.

And as for game mode, it's a blu-ray, not a game, so no game mode.

You need to match up the displays output with the ps4's, be it 60hz, or 24hz for movies.

Fair enough, its odd because with my old LG OLED i never had to switch.
I've had to send the panel back anyway as a result of a dead pixel, the
replacement arrived today with 20+ dead pixels.

2 in a row, its not looking good for Sony, might have to back to LG.

I have not tested blu ray playback on my xbox yet. My Nintendo switch was
fine. I'll test other devices more thoroughly when the replacement
arrives. This will be my third tv. Surely there cant be any dead pixels
on this one as well.

Hi Rose,

I received my 3rd Sony AG9 on Friday which once again had dead pixels this
time there were 3. I have honestly never had a worse experience with
televisions. The 1st time is a mistake, the second is bad luck but the
third is just poor quality control. I have decided to return this tv and
to now go with Samsung instead,

I thank you all for your input, unfortunately this experience has left a
very bad taste in my mouth and as a result I will never again purchase a
Sony television. They have fallen very much behind from their once
excellent Trinitrons and Bravia LCD tvs.
