Linking Remote Controls

TV: Sony 49XE8077SJ

DVD/Sound: Sony BDV-E3100

Desk top box CISCO CT 8820 (Virgin Media)

Just bought the above TV and now have to use three separate Remotes. I prevously could use the Virgin remote to control sound as well as channels. now I can't. I have followed the instructions to allow the TV remote to act as the virgin remote and I would have thought that the Sony DVD player and Sony TV would link without too much difficulty but the TV doesn't recognise either of the two other boxes

Any ideas anyone?
