No, don't use the headphone output. Use HDMI CEC to connect if your soundbar has the option!

I have a new kd-49xd8099 Smart TV which I’ve connected to a set of Edirol monitor speakers using the Optical Digital output. The problem is that I can no longer control the volume through the TV i.e. using the remote control. The sound does not change if I alter the volume level on the TV at all. Does anyone know if there is a setting that I need to change so that I can vary the volume through the TV?

Hi

I think its a typo. "Straight" is probably the word

To control the volume via the TVs remote control, you need to use HDMI connections. It is the HDMI-CEC functions that support this. Hence will not work with an optical connection

Cheers

Thanks that makes sense. Do you think the best way to connect to the speakers is through the headphone output then?
