No timeshift in KD55SD8505 android tv?

The recording to usb-hdd works fine, the pause / delay of watching isn't there. Did I miss something or it shouldn't even be working?

Android TVs currently do not have a timeshift function unfortuately. This has been requested many times, but we do not know if/when such function will be implemented.

Is there some technical reason for this missing timeshift, or is Sony just teasing customers?

Given the fact that Sony is currently abandoning features like the Opera TV Store, most functionality of the Video & TV SideView app, I assume that the TV division is currently being economized to death. So no money for implementing stuff like Timeshifting...
